White Nominated for Two ESPY's

NORMAN, Okla. -- Jason White, winner of the 2003 Heisman Trophy and 2003 Davey O'Brien Award, is nominated for two ESPY's.  The Oklahoma quarterback is nominated as the top college athlete and for the top comeback. 
 
The event will be televised from Hollywood's Kodak Theatre on ESPN Sunday, July 18 at 9 p.m. ET (four days after taking place on Wednesday, July 14). Nominees were announced for all 36 categories, which for the first time will be voted on completely by fans. Voting has begun and will continue through July 9. Winners will be announced on the telecast.
 
2004 ESPY Voting

White's comeback was well-documented in his award-winning season.  He overcame two reconstructive knee surgeries prior to the 2003 season in which he fired 40 touchdowns and just 10 interceptions.  Other nominees for the comeback award are John Daly, golf, Bethany Hamilton, surfing and Neil Parry, San Jose State Football.

Other nominees for the top college athlete are Larry Fitzgerald, Pittsburgh football, Jameer Nelson, St. Joseph's basketball and Emeka Okafor, Connecticut Basketball.
