NORMAN, Okla. -- The University of Oklahoma soccer team will host its lone home contest of the spring schedule as they entertain Dallas Inter '87, U-19 club team, on Saturday, April 24 at 11 a.m. at John Crain Field.
In five spring games Michele Enos, Savannah Scott and Lauren MacIver have one goal a piece. In the assist category, Andrea Hurley leads the team with two while Shelly Sims and Savannah Scott have each recorded one.
Here is what head coach Randy Evans is saying about his team's performance during the spring.
About the spring so far:
"When you look at the scores of our games you can be disapointed but the point of the spring is to get to play the players that were lacking experience last season. We have the opportunity to play everyone on this team throughout this offseason schedule and we are finding out who will help us off the bench as we look to continue last year's success in the upcoming fall."
About last time out against Arizona State:
"Overall it was a good trip and we continue to answer questions about this team," said Oklahoma head coach Randy Evans. "This spring is creating some positive and some negative answers. It is not a surprise that with an inexperienced lineup on the field in the spring, that we have given up more goals than we have scored."
On the Defense:
"Our defense continues to improve on their organization and our attack is taking shape. On the defensive side of the ball, Christy Kenkel is playing better than she did in the fall and Jenny Jones is proving with her hard work that she deserves a spot on the field in the fall."
On the Offense:
"Up front, Andrea Hurley has adjusted quickly to playing forward and Lauren MacIver continues to dominate the midfield. I think Lauren is playing her best soccer since she has been at OU. In addition, the amount of scoring chances we are creating is very encouraging and with the addition of our freshmen in the upcoming fall season, this team should be very exciting to watch."
The incoming freshman class consists of three student-athletes from five-time Oklahoma state champion Jenks High School and three from the state of Texas. The newcomers will add depth and talent to a team that is coming off its most successful season by earning a berth in the NCAA Tournament for the first time in school history.
