NORMAN, Okla.   Six players were added to the 2004 Oklahoma women's soccer team as announced by head coach Randy Evans on Friday morning.  The class consists of three student-athletes from five-time Oklahoma state champion Jenks High School and three from the state of Texas.  The newcomers will add depth and talent to a team that is coming off its most successful season by earning a berth in the NCAA Tournament for the first time in school history.

“We took an important step as a program this year in making the NCAA Tournament,” said Evans. “This class should help propel this program even further. We've added some great speed, athleticism and talent. I'm very proud of this group. They are terrific players, good students and wonderful people. This class will make an immediate impact on next year's team.”

Coach Evans: “Shana is a wonderfully skilled player with a terrific mind for the game.  She is one of those players that wants the ball on her foot when the game is on the line.  Shana should make an immediate impact up front or on the outside of the midfield.”

Tenesha Duncan

Duncan was the leading scorer for Fossil Ridge High School, where she also ran track.  During her career she was named district, team and NE Tarrant County Newcomer of the Year.  Duncan will miss her senior spring season with an ACL injury.

Coach Evans: “Tenesha has the size, strength, speed and skills to impact every game in which she plays.  She should provide a huge spark to the frontline.  The big key will be her rehabilitation and getting back to 100 percent.”

Keester is an All-State forward for five-time defending state champion Jenks High School and she led the nationally ranked team in scoring last year.  She plays club soccer for five-time state champion Tulsa Soccer Club '86.

Coach Evans: “Colleen is a dynamic ball of energy.  Her constant movement and tenacity will help us put more pressure on the ball up top and she is a terrific target player.  Colleen also possesses the speed and one-versus-one ability to play out wide in the midfield.”

Allyson Kucera
5'8” - Midfielder/Defender/Forward - Pearland, Texas
Kucera is a multi-sport athlete at Pearland High School, playing varsity basketball, volleyball and soccer.  Kucera was a member of the all-district team.  She also plays for Eclipse '86 Black and was also on the state ODP team.

Coach Evans: “Allyson is the ultimate utility player.  She is a terrific defender and has the skills and sophistication to create in the attack.  She is also outstanding in the air.”

Jennifer Nichols
5'9” - Goalkeeper - Tulsa, Okla.
Nichols is a National Soccer Coaches' Association of America (NSCAA) All-American from Jenks High School.  She allowed nine goals in 33 games last year for a 0.27 goals-against average as Jenks won its fifth straight state championship.  She also plays for Tulsa Soccer Club '86.

Coach Evans: “Last season the NSCAA only recognized five goalkeepers from across the country as All-Americans and Jenny was one of them.  She has great range, athleticism and good foot skills.”
