November 08, 2004 | Football

NORMAN, Okla. -- For the second week in a row an Oklahoma player has been named the Big 12 Conference's Offensive Player of the Week.  This time, it's Jason White, who tied a school record with five touchdown passes in the Sooners' 42-35 victory at No. 22 Texas A&M, Saturday.  Last week, the honor went to running back Adrian Peterson.

White tied the school record he already shared with Josh Heupel when he fired five TD passes at the Aggies. The senior had scoring tosses of 31, 24, 11, 2, and 39 yards, and led OU to an eight-play, 80-yard drive that consumed 6:36 with the score tied 35-35.

It marked the third time in White's career that he threw five touchdown passes in a game and the second time he had done it against A&M.

OU head coach Bob Stoops also cited White's game management in noting that OU had no offensive penalties while playing in front of 81,115 fans at Kyle Field.

Defensive player of the week honors went to Texas LB Derrick Johnson, while the special teams award went to Colorado punt return Stephone Robinson.
