Peterson Captures National Player of the Week Honor ... Again

NORMAN, Okla. -- For the second time this season, the Walter Camp Foundation, which sponsors one of the country's most prestigious All-America teams, has named Oklahoma running back Adrian Peterson its national offensive player of the week.

That citation came on Sunday. On Monday, Peterson also was won the fan voting in the Cingular/ABC Sports All-America Player of the Weekby Big 12 Conference Offensive Player of the Week award. and was named the Big 12 Conference's offensive player of the week.

The true freshman rushed 33 times for 249 yards Saturday in the Sooners' 38-35 victory over No. 20 Oklahoma State. Peterson won the honor earlier this season when he exploded for 225 yards against another ranked opponent, Texas.

On Saturday, Peterson rushed for a season-high 249 yards (on 33 carries) and one touchdown (80 yards) as the second-ranked Sooners (8-0, 5-0 in the Big 12) defeated 20th-ranked Oklahoma State, 38-35. Peterson has now rushed for 100+ yards in each of his first eight collegiate games (1,272 yards total).

Peterson now ranks No. 3 in the nation with 159.0 rushing yards per game, including 237.0 against the two ranked teams OU has played thus far.
