NORMAN, Okla. -- The Oklahoma volleyball team lost in three games to No. 10 Texas on Wednesday night at the Howard McCasland Field House. Texas never allowed the Sooners to get into the match during the 16-30, 15-30, 19-30 defeat. OU dropped to 10-10 on the season and 2-10 overall while the UT improved to 18-2, 10-2 in Big 12.
Sophomore Joanna Schmitt got half way to her fifth consecutive double-double with 12 kills. Unfortunately, her three digs weren't enough to extend her streak.
Freshman Anna Stadel, senior Keri Coats and junior Sheena Werling each tallied five kills for the Sooners who hit just .080 in the match.
Box Score
While OU's offense struggled the UT squad was hitting on all cylinders. UT hit .464 for the match with All-Americna Mira Topic and her 15 kills leading the charge. Sophomore middle blocker Brandee Magee also tallied 14 kills and was the only other Longhorn with double-digit kills.
OU freshman setter Julie Chester tallied 30 assists and five digs in her sixth career start. Senior Stephanie Tengram led the defense with nine digs.
Oklahoma continues its home stand with a 7 p.m. Saturday match against No. 15 Texas A&M. Admission is $5 for adults and $3 for children.
