Wade Named Big 12 Soccer Defensive Player Of The Week

Norman, Okla. - Oklahoma junior goalkeeper Catherine Wade was named the Big 12's Defensive Player of the Week, the league office announced Tuesday.

In two games last week, Wade went 1-0-1 in goal for the Sooners while posting a 0.88 goals-against average and making 12 saves.  On Friday, Wade helped force double overtime by allowing one goal versus TCU in Forth Worth, Texas, before the teams ended up in a tie. 

On Sunday at SMU, Wade again allowed one goal, making six saves in the single overtime win for OU.  Between the two games, Wade posted the full 205:10 of playing time and improved her 2003 record to 3-2-1.  Wade is allowing 1.70 goals a game on the season and leads the Big 12 in saves made (35) and saves per game (5.83).  In addition, Wade and the Sooners are 2-0-1 in three overtime games played this season.

The Midland, Texas native improved to 15-8-2 during her career at OU and has now posted 11 shutouts in 40 games played.

Kansas' Carolin Smith was named the league's offensive player of the week and Oklahoma State's Adriane Radtke was tabbed the newcomer of the week.
