Pasha Jackson Journal No. 9

This is the ninth installment of the Pasha Jackson journal. This has been such a hectic week with all the hoopla surrounding the OSU game -- I'm just going to talk about that and start answering questions next week. Journal Entry No. 9 (Nov. 6, 2003)
The last game against Oklahoma State kind of felt like the Texas game, where all different parts of our scheme were clicking at once. Our defense was playing well, our line was abusing their o-line, the defensive backs shut down their passing game (that killed us last year) and the offense piled up the points. Overall, it was a great game for us to come out and once again prove to everyone what this squad is capable of.

I am real proud of our team and the effort we put together. There was a lot of talking from the opponent before the game and the week prior and that did not agitate us. We let our play do the talking. We were gentlemen after the game, shook their hands and then celebrated afterwards. It was just so rewarding to defeat them after they had our number the two seasons prior, especially at home.

Now this week we have the Aggies coming into Norman. Texas A&M, I think, is like the last little demon we have hanging over our head. Last season when they beat us, that really hurt us after being undefeated and that was also my first collegiate loss. I went undefeated at City College and up 'till playing them last season -- we were cruising. This is just another game, we respect them and this is just another team we need to beat.

When we put our heads together and play as one, it is hard to get us down. Like I have said before, you can't really play off revenge or hatred. The emotion of playing college football is enough to get you fired up to play your hardest to come out on top.

A&M's quarterback is a guy that is resourceful and makes the most out of what is given to him. He is someone you have to watch out for because he makes plays and is a very good passer.

The running back is solid too. He is close to averaging 100 yards a game and you can't let him beat you. You can't let them fool you, they have weapons and they are dangerous because they are starting to click on both sides of the ball. We just need to stay focused and stick to our game plan in order to take care of the task at hand.

I want to thank everyone for all the emails this week after defeating Oklahoma State. The players know that winning Bedlam is just as important to the fans as it is to us, and your support is greatly appreciated. We are kind of taking a break from questions this time around after such a hectic week but I will get back to more of your emails in the next journal. So don't forget to keep emailing me your questions about football or whatever else and stayed tuned in.
