Volleyball Loses Red River Rematch

NORMAN, Okla.   The Oklahoma volleyball team lost in three games (30-21, 30-21, 30-20) to Texas, Saturday night at Gregory Gymnasium in Austin, Texas.  Oklahoma falls to 11-19 on the season and 3-15 in the Big 12, while Texas improves to 13-14 and 8-10.

Joanna Schmitt and Sheena Werling led the errant Sooners offense with nine kills apiece. Their efforts were off set by 16 combined attacks errros between the duo.  The OU offense had 32 kills, which was equal to its number of attack errors (32).

OU hit .121 in the first game but couldn't keep out of negative digits the remainder of the evening.

Senior Christina Maynes had eight kills, second most behind Werling and Schmitt.  Sophomore middle blocker Jennifer Adams had four kills and one block assist. 

Freshman Rachel Jackson and senior Kelly McCarter shared the setting duties, with Jackson besting the veteran 21-6.  Jackson turned in a match-high three aces as well.

Defensively Anna Monsen led the Sooners with six digs, while Maynes and Jackson each tallied five digs.

Texas was led by Kathy Hahn, who was nearly perfect with 12 kills on 16 attempts and no errors.  She hit at a .750 clip, while fellow middle Brandy Magee hit at a .500 clip with seven kills.
