The Jayhawks sit fifth in the conference, just one point ahead of OU with a 12-4-1 overall record and a 4-3-1 mark in Big 12 action.

KU's Caroline Smith leads the league in goals with 15 this season and she also has two assists.  In addition, Smith ranks second in the conference in shots taken with 61.

On defense, the Jayhawks sport a 0.80 goals-against average with Meghan Miller starting every game in goal for KU.  Miller is 12-4-1 with eight shutouts in 2003.

PREVIEW:  Oklahoma @ Oklahoma State
A rare Monday contest will mark the annual Bedlam game between OU and Oklahoma State played at 7 p.m. in Stillwater.  The contest marks the final regular season game for the Sooners.

The Cowgirls sit seventh in the conference, just one point behind OU with an 11-3-2 overall record and a 3-3-2 mark in Big 12 action.  OSU leads the all-time series 6-1.

Adriane Radtke (12 goals, 7 assists) and Jolene Schweitzer (10 goals, 5 assists) head up OSU's offense so far this season.

Kathrin Lehmann is 11-1-2 in goal this year and has three shutouts, 36 saves and a 0.52 goals-against average.

SOONERS EARN POSTSEASON SPOT
After the win and tie this past weekend, the Sooners secured a spot in the Big 12 Soccer Tournament to be played in San Antonio, Texas, on Nov. 6, 7 & 9 at Blossom Soccer Stadium.  OU missed last year's tourney and have two previous Big 12 postseason appearances (2000 & 2001).

LAST WEEKEND
The Sooners came out playing hard Friday against Texas Tech at John Crain Field and finished with a 4-1 victory.

It was the most goals scored by OU since they last played the Red Raiders last season in a 4-0 game.  It also marked the largest margin of victory this season for the Sooners.

Logan Womack got OU rolling with two goals against Texas Tech.  She currently leads the team in goals with six and points with 16.  Kristin Vesely also scored, her second of 2003, and Kady Kelly collected her first collegiate points with a goal.

On Sunday, the Sooners played to a 1-1 tie against Baylor on Senior Day at John Crain Field. Seniors Heidi Martinson, Ashley Lacey, Jessica Talton and Womack were honored before the game.

Becky Nelson recorded her fifth goal of the season following a nice dish from Womack in the 12th minute.  The one-goal lead held until Baylor tied it up with a little over a minute left in regulation.

GREAT SCOTT
Freshman midfielder/forward Savannah Scott scored her second game-winner in as many weeks on 10/5 against Missouri (the other was against Texas on 9/28).  She is now tied for third in goals with four and is fourth in points with 11.  The week of 9/22-9/28, Scott was named to Soccer America's Team of the Week for her goal and assist in games against Texas A&M and Texas.

OVERTIME SUCCESS
The Sooners have played in eight overtime games this season and have suffered just one loss, going 3-1-4.   In 834:39 of action in the eight games, Catherine Wade has 75 saves with a 0.97 GAA.  She continues to lead the league in saves with 124, which ties the single season mark set by Jana Cunningham (2000).

WADE EARNS BIG 12 DEFENSIVE HONORS TWICE
Oklahoma junior goalkeeper Catherine Wade was named the Big 12's Defensive Player of the Week, the league office announced Sept. 23. It marked the second week in a row for the Midland, Texas, native to win the award.

Against Oral Roberts and Tulsa, Wade went 2-0 in goal for the Sooners while posting her first two shutouts of the season. She made 12 saves combined.  In the weekend before that, Wade went 1-0-1 in goal for the Sooners while posting a 0.88 goals-against average and making 12 saves.  Wade posted the full 205:10 of playing time in the overtime games against TCU and SMU.

TOUGH 2003 SLATE
OU has played four preseason top-25 teams and so far it is 2-2. The Sooners defeated SMU 2-1 in overtime and lost 5-1 to current No. 2 Notre Dame.  At home, the Sooners lost to current No. 9 Texas A&M (4-1) and defeated then-No. 16 Texas (2-1).  Two more current top-25 teams battled OU.  OU lost at No. 22 Nebraska on Oct. 10 (2-1, 2OT) and tied No. 7 Colorado on Oct. 12 at John Crain Field (0-0, 2OT).

HEAD COACH RANDY EVANS
Oklahoma soccer head coach Randy Evans is in his fifth year at OU after being named head coach on Jan. 11, 1999.  He is coming off his second consecutive 11-win season, tying a school record for victories.

Evans' 2002 squad won its first six games and stood at 11-3 at one point in the season.  Logan Womack and Lauren MacIver both were named to the All-Big 12 second team as Evans and company just barely missed a berth in the conference tournament.

He coordinated the strongest season in OU's young soccer history in 2001. The Sooners won a school-record 11 games while compiling a stellar 8-1-1 record at home and notched their first victories ever over conference rivals Oklahoma State, Texas Tech and Missouri. OU came within a goal of upsetting Texas A&M the eventual tournament champion in its second consecutive appearance in the Big 12 Conference Tournament.

In 2000, Evans led the Sooners to a 10-9-1 mark and an appearance in the Big 12 Tournament for the first time ever. His coaching performance earned him Big 12 Coach of the Year honors and, a month later, Evans was named the NSCAA Central Region Coach of the Year.

NEXT WEEK FOR THE SOONERS
After Monday's showdown with Oklahoma State concludes the regular season, the Sooners will have 10 days before competing in the Big 12 Tournament.
