NORMAN, Okla. - Oklahoma soccer opens the 2002 season against the Tulsa
Golden Hurricane on Friday, Aug. 30 at 6 p.m. The game will be played at the ORU
Soccer Complex on the campus of Oral Roberts University in Tulsa.
Oklahoma is 2-4 all-time in season openers. Last year, the Sooners traveled to
Fort Worth and defeated TCU, 2-0.
Tulsa leads the overall series with OU, 2-1. The last time the two teams met,
also in a season opener on Aug. 25, 2000, TU beat Oklahoma, 2-0.
The Golden Hurricane compiled an overall record of 9-9-2 last season and finished
fifth in the WAC standings. TU returns 13 letterwinners and nine starters for
2002.
Oklahoma dropped its lone exhibition game of the 2002 preseason, 2-0, to Saint
Louis University on Friday, Aug. 23 at John Crain Field. Tulsa also lost its only
exhibition game of the preseason on Aug. 24 at Ole Miss, 2-0.
The Sooners are coming off an 11-7-1 season in 2001. OU returns 17 letterwinners
and nine starters from that squad including preseason first-team All-Big 12 forward
Logan Womack.
Oklahoma will play host ORU on Sunday night, Sept. 1 at 8 p.m. OU plays its first
home game at John Crain Field in Norman on Friday, Sept. 13 against SMU.
