NORMAN, Okla. - University of Oklahoma head men's basketball coach Kelvin Sampson announced today that Joshua Prock is the program's new director of basketball operations. Prock succeeds Terry Evans, former OU basketball standout who served in the capacity last season, after Evans accepted the head men's coaching position at the University of Central Oklahoma earlier this month.
Prock, who will enter his fifth season with the Sooner basketball program next year, spent last season as the team's video coordinator and the previous three as a student manager. He graduated from OU in May 2001 with a bachelor of arts degree in history and will complete requirements for a master's degree in human relations from the university this summer.
"Josh Prock is a young man who has been extremely loyal to our program," noted Sampson. "He served us as a manager for three years and did a tremendous job in that capacity, as well as last season as our video coordinator. He's worked very hard and understands the ins and outs of our program. I like to reward people for their hard work and Josh is an example of that."
A native of Clovis, N.M., who now lives in Blanchard, Okla., Prock will handle special projects, oversee teaching clinics and summer camps, assist with on-campus recruiting and also schedule practice times for visiting teams as well as for the Sooners on road trips.
