  • Oklahoma is the first No. 2 seed in Big 12 Tournament history to win the championship. OU has won two straight Big 12 Tournaments, but were not the No. 1 seed in either tournament. Last year the Sooners were the No. 3 seed. OU has won six conference tournament titles. This was Kansas' first loss in the four Big 12 Tournament title appearances.

  • It marks the first time Oklahoma has defeated the No. 1 team in the nation since Feb. 20, 1995, when it beat Kansas, 76-63, during Sampson's first season as the Sooners' head coach.

  • OU's 27 victories is the most wins heading into the NCAA Tournament since the 1988-89 squad had 28. Oklahoma has won eight straight games. Oklahoma's win snapped KU's 16-game winning streak.

  • It marks the first back-to-back conference tournament championship for any Oklahoma team. Oklahoma is 15-2 in tournament play over the last two seasons

  • OU led by as many as 12 points in the first half, which was its largest ever lead in the game. OU is 25-1 when leading at the half.

  • OU held its three Big 12 Tournament opponents to a combined 34 percent from the field.

  • Hollis Price's 21 field goal attempts was a career-high. His nine field goals were a personal best in Big 12 Tournament play.

  • During the 2002 Big 12 Tournament, OU set Big 12 Tournament school records in field goal attempts (179), three-point goals (20), rebounds (139), blocks (15) and steals (30).

  • OU Jabahri Brown set a Big 12 Tournament school record with four blocks and tied the steals mark with four. Aaron McGhee's 36 rebounds in three games was an OU Big 12 Tournament record.
