Oklahoma is the first No. 2 seed in Big 12 Tournament history to win the championship. OU has won two straight Big 12 Tournaments, but were not the No. 1 seed in either tournament. Last year the Sooners were the No. 3 seed. OU has won six conference tournament titles. This was Kansas' first loss in the four Big 12 Tournament title appearances.
It marks the first time Oklahoma has defeated the No. 1 team in the nation since Feb. 20, 1995, when it beat Kansas, 76-63, during Sampson's first season as the Sooners' head coach.

OU Jabahri Brown set a Big 12 Tournament school record with four blocks and tied the steals mark with four. Aaron McGhee's 36 rebounds in three games was an OU Big 12 Tournament record.
