Fourth-ranked Oklahoma improved to 18-3 (7-2 Big 12) with the 70-57 win, while Baylor fell to 13-9 (3-6).
OU now boasts a 19-game winning streak at home, dating back to a 69-61 loss to Kansas on Jan. 13, 2001. OU has won 28 of its last 29 home games and at 12-0 this season, is one of just two Big 12 schools to sport undefeated records at home (Kansas, 9-0).
Oklahoma now leads the all-time series against Baylor 20-5, including 15 wins in a row. The last time Baylor beat Oklahoma was during the 1977-78 season, a 75-67 Bear wear in Norman. OU head coach Kelvin Sampson is a perfect 13-0 all-time against BU.
Hollis Price, this week's Big 12 Conference Player of the Week, scored just six points tonight which ties his season-low, however he added a season-high tying seven rebounds and four assists.
Quannas White dished out five assists in tonight's game, his sixth consecutive game leading the Sooners in assists. For the year, he has led the club in helpers 14 times.
Jason Detrick scored 18 points, 14 of which came in the first half. He's reached double figures 12 times this season.
Aaron McGhee scored a season-high 23 points, his fifth contest in a row scoring in double figures. He added a team-high eight rebounds, his fourth consecutive game leading OU on the boards. Coming into tonight's game, McGhee had been averaging nearly a double-double over his last four contests (14.5 ppg and 9.8 rpg).
Daryan Selvy talled 10 points and six rebounds (five of the offensive variety). He added two assists and two steals.
Oklahoma built a 33-26 halftime lead despite shooting just 11-for-31 from the field (35.5%). The Sooners held a 22-13 rebounding edge in the opening stanza.
OU held Baylor without a field goal from the 11:03 mark of the second half all the way until 2:12 remained in the game, building as much as a 17-point lead.
OU entered tonight's game leading the league in free throw shooting (.750) and ranking second in scoring defense (70.0). The Sooners shot 16-for-19 from the line (84.2%) and held Baylor to 57 points, tying BU's season-low set on Jan. 8 at Oklahoma State.
Baylor was held to a season-low 17 field goals and BU's 24 rebounds were also a team low for the 2001-2002 season.
OU held a 42-24 rebounding edge (20-8 offensive) and benefitted by scoring 14 second-chance points to none for Baylor. Oklahoma also out-scored BU in the paint, 34-18.
