With tonight's 96-78 win, Oklahoma clinched the second seed in the upcoming Big 12 Tournament in Kansas City. OU improved to 22-4 (11-3 Big 12) with the win, while Texas fell to 17-10 (8-6 Big 12).
Oklahoma has now won 21 games in a row at home and 30 of its last 31 inside the Lloyd Noble Center. OU is just one win away from its first perfect home season since 1994-95, Kelvin Sampson's first season as head coach.
The Sooners extended their win streak against Texas to seven games. OU has won 23 of the last 26 meetings between the clubs and leads the all-time series 41-16.
Oklahoma's 96 points are the most the team has scored in 12 games, dating back to a 98-72 win over Texas Tech on Jan. 12.
Aaron McGhee recorded his sixth double-double in his last eight contests by scoring 20 points and grabbing 10 rebounds. He has 10 double-doubles on the year and has posted 20-point nights in five of his last six games played. McGhee scored 13 of his points in the first half.
McGhee also registered a double-double in OU's first meeting with the Longhorns, scoring 16 points and pulling down 11 rebounds on Feb. 2 in Austin.
Quannas White scored a season- and career-high 20 points in tonight's game, his ninth time in double figures on the year. His previous high was 17 points against Kansas on Jan. 19.
From the free throw line tonight, OU was 28-for-30, good for 93.3%. OU's previous season-high was a 90% free throw shooting night against Central Michigan. The Sooners came into tonight's game leading the Big 12 from the charity stripe, shooting .763. Oklahoma has shot 90%-or-better from the line three times this season.
Oklahoma held a 42-34 halftime over the Longhorns. In the first half, OU shot 43.2% from the field while holding Texas to just 35.5% shooting.
Hollis Price scored 14 points in tonight's game, his 21st outing of the year in double figures. Against Texas this season, he is averaging 19.5 ppg.
In a reserve role, Ebi Ere scored 23 points to reach double figures scoring for the third consecutive game and the 21st time this season. He has scored 20-or-more points six times during the 2001-2002 season. Ere scored 21 of his points in the second half. Against Texas this season, Ere is also averaging 19.5.
Oklahoma was out-rebounded for just the 11th time this season, 47-38. OU is 8-3 in those games.
OU had 20 assists to just 11 for Texas.
The Sooners turned the ball over just six times, narrowly missing the season-low of five set against Texas A&M on Feb. 9. Texas had 12 turnovers tonight.
Tonight's attendance of 12,724 was Oklahoma's largest at the Lloyd Noble Center on the season. The previous high was set against Maryland on Dec. 21, when 12,715 saw OU's 72-56 win.
