POSTGAME NOTES
Oklahoma State 79, Oklahoma 72 (OT)
Feb. 13, 2002
Gallagher-Iba Arena - Stillwater, Okla.

  • Oklahoma's loss ended its four-game winning streak and its two-game winning streak against Oklahoma State.
  • The Sooners had won seven of their last eight overtime games prior to tonight. OU dropped to 13-8 in overtime affairs under Kelvin Sampson.
  • Senior forward Aaron McGhee posted his fourth double-double in five games and his eighth of the season with a season-high 27 points and 11 rebounds. He is averaging 18.4 points and 9.9 rebounds over the last seven games. He has led the team in rebounding in each of the last six outings.
  • McGhee's 10 free throw makes and 10 attempts were both OU season bests.
  • Jason Detrick came off the bench to contribute 15 points and six rebounds. He has scored in double figures in three of the last four games and is averaging 12.8 points over the span.
  • The Sooners buried 22 of their 25 free throw attempts, almost setting a season high (they shot .900 when they made 18-of-20 against Central Michigan on Nov. 28).
  • Oklahoma fell for the first time this year when leading at halftime and when outrebounding its opponent. The Sooners are now 18-1 and 13-1 in the respective scenarios.
  • Ebi Ere was held to single-digit scoring for the third straight game. He is averaging 6.7 points over the last three contests.
  • Junior Jozsef Szendrei played his most minutes since Dec. 29 against Texas Southern (he played 20 that game) and finished the night with four points and a career-high-tying 11 rebounds.
  • Hollis Price's seven rebounds tied a career high. The junior guard finished the night just 2-of-11 from the field (both of his makes and 10 of his attempts were from beyond the arc).
