Norman, Okla. - Oklahoma's Brandon Everage and Tommie Harris have been named American Football Coaches Association (AFCA)All-Americans. The team is selected by coaches from across the country.
Everage, a free safety, was a semifinalist for the Jim Thorpe Award (top defensive back), while Harris, a defensive tackle, is a finalist for the Bednarik (top defensive player) and Lombardi (top lineman) awards.
Everage ranks No. 3 on the team with 82 tackles. He also ranks No. 14 in the nation with five interceptions, which he returned for 92 yards. The junior had two interceptions against Iowa State and a career-high 17 tackles vs. Colorado.
Harris, a sophomore, missed two games due to injury, but still compiled 23 tackles, including six for losses and two sacks. He also recovered one fumble.
It marks the second time in as many days that a Sooner has been honored with All-America status. Teddy Lehman was selected to the Football Writers Association of America team.
