NORMAN- The Oklahoma volleyball team faces No. 21 Missouri this weekend as part of "Super Sooner Saturday" inside Howard McCasland Field House. Saturday begins with the football team playing No. 12 Colorado at 2:30 p.m., after which the volleyball team will take the court against the Tigers at 7 p.m.
"Missouri is a very good team," said OU Head Coach Kalani Mahi. "They are playing very efficient, all-around volleyball. We played well against them in Columbia (Mo.) last time, so I think we will come into the match confident. It would be great for both Sooner teams to knock off ranked opponents."
In the previous matchup between OU and Mizzou on Oct. 12, the Tigers swept the Sooners 30-26, 30-27and 30-23. Despite falling in consecutive sets the Sooners hit .235 (45K-18E-115 TA). Junior outside hitter Christina Barlow knocked out 13 kills and senior Megan O'Connell added nine. Against Missouri, OU averaged 11.1 digs per game and 3.3 service errors per game. In Oklahoma's last two matches the Sooners have averaged 14.9 digs per game and just 1.75 service errors per game.
"We've played well in the last two matches," said Mahi. "Unfortunately we have been unable to get over the hump and take the match."
The match will be broadcast live through SoonerSports.com, as will all the remaining home matches. To view the live video feed, click on the "Streaming Match Feed" button on the right side of the volleyball home page.
