Oklahoma Head Coach Kelvin Sampson:
On the game:
"I was disappointed with some of the things that we did out there today. We played against a good team and Kansas is really tough to guard in the post. This was just a game of two different ball clubs with strengths in different areas and there are a lot of lessons to be learned."
On the first half:
"I thought in the first half, it was a close game. You can't go on the road and get into foul trouble, especially at Kansas. We just stayed aggressive and we had a lot of positives come out of this game. I think that this game teaches us that even if we get into a hole, we can dig ourselves out."
On Kansas:
"Let's make sure that you understand that our guys are playing against very good players. Kansas is good, especially (Drew) Gooden and (Nick) Collison, those two guys are unusual in that they are two All-Americans. I thought that we did a good job on Collison and Gooden, but they are so good at making tough shots that we can't double team them because it opens someone else up. I also have a tremendous respect for Kirk Hinrich."
Oklahoma Guard Hollis Price:
On KU's Drew Gooden:
"We knew that after his performance in the first half, that he would come out in the second and be aggressive. He worked hard and he scored. I think that our big men did a good job guarding him."
On this year's Kansas team:
"There are two things about this year's team that are different from years past. First, they don't have Kenny Gregory, who was a great athlete and made a big difference in any game. Second, they do now have five guys who can get you 20 points each."
On OU's efforts:
"I think that we had great point guard play today. I think that everyone did a good job. Our big guns really need to play in these games. The crowd was going wild when they had their 20 point lead. We just had to be composed and try to stay tough. Anytime you have the number five team go up against the number four team, it is going to be a good game. I think that our fight back from 20 points will still show people that we are a good team, too."
Kansas Head Coach Roy Williams:
On the game:
" I hate to say this about an athletic event but it was almost like a war out there. Kids on both teams were playing as hard as they could possibly play. It was very physical though never dirty. When we play against Kelvin's (Sampson) teams that is the way that I think the games will always be. I like to think that I will compete and I know that he will compete and our kids will do the same thing. I was really, really pleased with a lot of things to say the least. At one point in the second half I think that we had a 21 point lead and it was like a clinic offensively because we were getting every shot that we wanted and their foul trouble had something to do with that because they couldn't be as aggressive as they wanted to be. We were really good during that point but then all of a sudden they score 10 or 12 in a row. Then we came back and made some good plays, getting it inside."
Kansas Guard Kirk Hinrich:
On the game:
"It was great to be back in the Fieldhouse. Oklahoma is a big and tough team and I think that they are the toughest team that we have played all year. They have great players who make great plays that got them back in the ballgame after we made
