Ere Earns Second Big 12 Rookie-of-the-Week Honor

NORMAN, Okla. - University of Oklahoma junior guard Ebi Ere (pronounced EBB-ee ah-RAH) was named the Phillips 66 Big 12 Rookie of the Week today for his efforts in OU's victories over Connecticut and Texas Tech last week. Ere averaged 24.5 points, 8.5 rebounds and 2.5 steals over the two games.

At UConn last Monday, Ere hit the game-winning shot with 16 seconds left in a 69-67 triumph. He finished with 24 points and nine rebounds. Against Texas Tech on Saturday, the Tulsa native poured in 25 points (20 in the first half) and added eight boards and a career-high four steals. He was 9-of-14 from the field in the 98-72 win.

The rookie-of-the-week award was the second for Ere this season as he also earned the honor Dec. 3.

Ere was also named the Foxsports.com national player of the week for his efforts last week.

One of the country's top newcomers, Ere is averaging 16.8 points, 6.7 rebounds, 1.9 assists and 1.3 steals per game on the season. He is shooting .446 from the field, .333 from beyond the arc and .849 from the free throw line. He leads the Sooners with 40 offensive rebounds.
