Twenty-first-ranked Oklahoma extended its winning streak to eight games and improved to 9-1 with the 72-56 win over second-ranked Maryland. The Terrapins' eight-game win streak came to an end.
During OU's current eight-game win streak, six of the eight victories have been by 10 points or more.
The all-time series with Maryland is now even at two games apiece. The Terps had an eight-point win over OU last season in College Park.
Under Kelvin Sampson, Oklahoma is now 3-3 at home versus teams ranked in the top five. The other two wins at home over top-five teams both came against Kansas, in 1995 (ranked No. 1) and 1996 (ranked No. 3).

Tonight's attendance of 12,715 is the highest of the season and ties for the sixth-largest crowd ever at the Lloyd Noble Center with the Oklahoma State game on Feb. 22, 1997.

Ebi Ere, the Preseason Big 12 Newcomer of the Year, scored a game-high 19 points and added seven rebounds. He has now scored in double-figures eight times this season and has led OU in scoring twice.
Oklahoma forced nearly twice as many turnovers as it committed (21-11). OU is now 7-1 when committing the same or less turnovers than its opponent. Maryland came into the game averaging only 14 turnovers per game.
OU also had nearly twice as many steals as Maryland (13-7).
