NORMAN, Okla. - Sophomore Logan Womack and junior Krissy Dawson each scored two goals as the Oklahoma women's soccer team defeated Colorado, 4-0, in a Big 12 soccer game Sunday in front of 273 fans at the OU Soccer Complex. The Sooners' win improved their record to 9-2 overall and 3-1 in the conference while the Buffaloes fell to 1-7-1 and 0-3-1 in the Big 12.
Womack broke OU's single-season goal mark (nine) on the game's first score at 12:08 when she beat Colorado goalkeeper Danielle Bassett, who came out of the box.
The game remained 1-0 until the 64th minute in the second half when Dawson scored on a direct kick. A penalty kick by Dawson at 75:00 made it 3-0 and Womack again beat a CU goalkeeper (Whitney Peterson) to close out the scoring. Womack received a midfield pass from sophomore Heidi Martinson.
Oklahoma controlled the game throughout, outshooting the Buffaloes, 26-4. Freshman Catherine Wade (one save) picked up her second consecutive shutout and improved to 6-1 on the year. OU's eight shutouts this season is also a new school mark.
"We feel extremely comfortable playing at home," said Oklahoma Head Coach Randy Evans, whose team improved to 6-0 at home this season and have outscored their opponents, 22-0, during those games. "Our players did a fine job adjusting to their style of play. It was evident from the start that Colorado was playing a real physical game and our team maintained their composure throughout the match."
Oklahoma travels to Baylor next Friday for a Big 12 match in Waco, Texas, beginning at 7 p.m.
