NORMAN, Okla. - The University of Oklahoma men's basketball team will host a scrimmage at the Howard McCasland Field House three hours prior to the start of OU's football game versus Tulsa this Saturday. Open to the public, the scrimmage will begin at 11 a.m. and will conclude at approximately 12:30 p.m. Admission is free.
The Sooners, who began practice Oct. 13, are anxious for the season to begin. OU plays its first exhibition game on Monday, Nov. 5 against Athletes First at the Howard McCasland Field House at 7 p.m. Another exhibition game is scheduled for Friday, Nov. 9 versus EA Sports at Lloyd Noble Center at 7 p.m.
OU begins its regular season in the Preseason National Invitation Tournament by hosting Central Connecticut Nov. 12 at 7 p.m. If victorious, the Sooners will play a second-round game Nov. 14 against the winner of the Michigan State-Detroit contest. The Preseason NIT semifinals and finals will be held at New York City's Madison Square Garden Nov. 21 and 23.
Oklahoma is coming off a 26-7 season in which it finished the regular season ranked 13th in the AP poll. OU finished second in the Big 12 Conference race, won the league tournament and qualified for its seventh straight NCAA Tournament. Head coach Kelvin Sampson is beginning his eighth year at Oklahoma.
