NORMAN, Okla. - The University of Oklahoma volleyball team (2-16, 1-7 Big 12) welcomes Kansas State (10-5, 6-3 Big 12) into the Howard McCasland Field House on Friday, Oct. 19, for a 7 p.m. match.
Kansas State swept Oklahoma earlier this season in Manhattan by scores of 30-13, 30-16 and 30-23. Leading Oklahoma into Friday's match are sophomore Logan Pierce and freshman Candice Woods. After a career-high 19 kills against Iowa State this week, Pierce leads the team in total kills (181) and kills per game (2.97kpg). Woods is leading the Sooners with a .219 hitting percentage while averaging a team-high 0.77 blocks per game.
The Wildcats, coming off a 3-2 win over Baylor and fresh off a five-day break, are being led by Liz Wegner. She is averaging 4.69 kills per game while setter Gabby Guerre has averaged 11.21 assists per game and 3.03 digs per game in seven starts. Defensively, Lisa Mimick has posted a team-high 285 digs (3.19 dpg) while Lauren Goehring is averaging 1.09 blocks per game to lead the team.
The Sooners are next in action against Kansas on Wednesday, Oct. 24. Oklahoma defeated the Jayhawks earlier this season, 3-1. Match time is set for 7 p.m. at the Horejsi Family Athletics Center in Lawrence, Kan.
