Postgame Quotes Oklahoma vs. Texas A&M

Oklahoma Head Coach Kelvin Sampson

On the game:
"I thought we defended the basketball very well tonight. Texas A&M has improved a lot this year in every area. Melvin Watkins has done a great job and his kids played hard. We played as hard as we could at the defensive end. We also got to the free throw line a lot and that was a key for us. The bottom line is that we are 1-1 in conference play."

On playing without Nolan Johnson in the second half:
"Playing without Nolan affected us. But our other guards stepped up and did what was needed to be done for us to come out on top. I thought we came out in the second half and executed better. On the inside, Aaron McGhee continues to pour in the points. I thought Tim Heskett was particularly effective in his role off the bench. And Daryan Selvy really helped us out with his rebounding and his defensive play. I know that he can play better and he eventually will."

On the upcoming game with No. 5 Kansas:
"Kansas is certainly a lot better this year than they were last year because they have everyone back from a year ago. I think they're playing as well as anyone in the country right now. We're going to have to play better on Saturday to come out with a victory."

Oklahoma Sophomore Hollis Price

"I thought we played well in spots tonight. After our performance against Iowa State, we wanted to show that we can play better defense. Individually, I know I can play better."

Oklahoma Junior Aaron McGhee

"It was an ugly win, but we'll take it. I thought we played harder in the second half, forcing turnovers and creating points. I missed a lot of easy shots tonight. I've got to do a better job of rebounding the basketball. I'm not even worried about my offense right now. I'm focused on rebounding."
