Kansas ran its winning streak versus the Sooners to six games and has won three straight in Norman. Oklahoma's last win against KU came in the 1995-96 season, Kelvin Sampson's second year at OU.
Oklahoma shot a season-low .319 from the field today (.290) in the first half. It marked the third straight game against the Jayhawks that OU shot less than .350 from the floor.
Aaron McGhee fouled out without scoring a point. He entered the game averaging a team-high 16.4 points per game while shooting .572 from the field, but missed all nine of his field goal attempts today. The junior forward averaged 23.0 points in OU's first two Big 12 games.
The Sooners' eight blocks marked a season high while KU's five blocks tied for the most against OU this year. Johnnie Gilbert recorded a career-high five rejections for the Sooners, all in the first half.
Kansas took a 33-25 lead to the halftime locker room, marking just the second time this year (versus Arkansas was the other) that OU trailed at intermission.
Hollis Price tied a career high with three three-point baskets today on six attempts and finished with a team-high 18 points. The sophomore is averaging 20.0 points in OU's three league games.
Senior Kelley Newton drained 4-of-9 three-point attempts and scored 16 points. He is now 42-for-81 from beyond the arc this year for a .519 mark. Fellow senior Nolan Johnson also added 16 points.
The Sooners, who entered the game with a Big 12-leading .735 free throw percentage, converted 9-of-13 free throw attempts today (.692). Kansas was 17-for-25 from the foul line (.680).
Nolan Johnson entered the game with a team-leading .889 free throw percentage (40-for-45), but missed his first three attempts today and finished 3-for-6 from the line.
