Oklahoma Head Coach Kelvin Sampson
On the game:
"We needed to be hitting on all cylinders in this game and it just didn't happen. Kansas is the best team in our league and they showed how together as a team they are. They have gotten a lot better this season. I think that we need to improve in certain areas. We had a lot of standing around and our players didn't help each other enough at times. We need to play smarter and tougher especially with two tough road games coming up. "

On OU freshman forward Johnnie Gilbert:
"Johnnie is a very athletic freshman who helped us out tremendously in this game. I feel he is part of what will be a bright future for our team."

On the last half of the second half and OU junior forward Aaron McGhee:
"When the score was tied at 40, we needed to be able to sustain our defensive effort and they came down and hit some difficult shots. We didn't play as well offensively as we could have in this game. Aaron McGhee played hard and did some good things for us but he had difficulty knocking down his jump shot over some of their bigger players and couldn't get anything going on offense."

Oklahoma Junior Forward Aaron McGhee
"Hats off to Kansas, they played great defense today. To put it bluntly, I couldn't throw a shot in the ocean. I've been working on my rebounding during the week and I think it showed today. No excuses, I just didn't have my normal offensive game."

Oklahoma Senior Guard Nolan Johnson
"We couldn't overcome their height. That was the difference. It was difficult for any of us to shoot over them today. I thought if I could have played just a bit better, we could have won. Statistics don't matter to me, only the wins and losses."

Kansas Head Coach Roy Williams
On the game:
"The Oklahoma ball club played good defense today. Kelvin always has a great deal of pride in how hard his guys play, it was almost like a war out there today with both teams playing such a great defensive game. Rebounding played a tremendous role in today's game, especially Eric Chenowith with 15.

"It is important to remember that you can't just associate yourself with just one facet of the game, that's basketball, you have to marry yourself to the different phases of the game and hopefully it works out for your benefit. It's no secret that both teams are filled with very competitive ball players who displayed a great deal of toughness in today's game. Playing against such a tough ball club, especially on the road, forces you to turn up your competitive drive and ultimately decides how tough you really are. I'm sure Kelvin knows his team's potential for playing in the zone and thinks they can play a lot harder than they did today."

On junior guard Jeff Boschee:
"Jeff is one confident little rascal with a lot of courage. I told him earlier he better start making some shots and quit making me look bad. He took one shot that I didn't want him to, and missed it. He has to remember to get his feet set or don't shoot the ball, and he did make some great plays for us."

On shutting down OU's Aaron McGhee:
"We knew to expect some great plays from this guy so we tried to focus our defense on him early on in the game. He is a very talented young man, but I think overall he just didn't have a good day, and hopefully our defense had something to do with that."
