NORMAN, Okla. - The University of Oklahoma men's basketball team has been ranked 11th nationally by Blue Ribbon College Basketball Yearbook, the publication announced today. The Sooners, who are coming off a 27-7 season and their sixth consecutive NCAA Tournament appearance, were tabbed 23rd by The Sporting News just two weeks ago.
Oklahoma returns 62.5 percent of its scoring and 47.9 percent of its rebounding from last year's squad. Coach Sampson and his staff also welcome six newcomers, including a pair of first-team junior college All-Americans, to the program.
The Sooners play their first exhibition contest Nov. 4 when they host the California All-Stars at 7 p.m. OU's first regular season game will be played as part of the Sooner Invitational against Alcorn State on Nov. 17 at 8:15 p.m. at Lloyd Noble Center.
Blue Ribbon will be available by mail order in late October by calling 1-800-828-HOOP (4667). The book will also be available in early November in bookstores throughout the U.S.
