DALLAS, Texas-- Brandon Kissack ran a 25:55.27 to finish fifth in the standings to lead the Sooner men to a third-place finish at the SMU Run/ON Invitational on Saturday. The Sooner women, led by Stephanie Webb's 12th-place finish, finished fifth in the university team standings. Results were released today because of technical problems with the scoring system on Saturday.

The 25:55.27 marked the first time in the Bartlesville junior's career for him to break the 26:00.00 mark in an 8K race. He had dropped his career-best mark in the 8K to 26:30.29 at last week's Bob Timmons Invitational in Lawrence, Kan.

SMU won the university men's meet with 40 points. The Mustangs were followed by Texas-El Paso with 47, OU with 68, the SMU Alumni with 108, Arkansas-Little Rock with 116 and the SMU Freshmen with 128.

Other Sooner men who finished in the top 20 included freshman Joey McNair, 12th with a time of 26:56.86, junior Cecil Rose, who was 14th with a time of 27:41.46, freshman Darren Hutchins, who was 17th with a time of 27:57.20, and sophomore Jason Brown, who was 20th with a time of 28:16.86. The time for McNair dropped his career best at the 8K distance in only his second time to run at that distance. The times for Rose and Forest Walker (28:54.07) also were career bests at 8K.

For the Sooner women, it was the third consecutive race for a different runner to take the lead position. Other Sooner women who finished in the top 20 were Sinead Holt, who was 19th with a 19:38.47, and Aisha Stringer, who was 20th with a career-best time of 19:50.49. Career-best marks for a 5K race also were posted for the second consecutive week by Amanda Lukesetich (20:10.23) and Alaina Dearman (20:40.95).

Oklahoma State and Arkansas-Little Rock tied for first in the university women's team standings with 48 points. Texas-El Paso was third with 57 followed by Southern Methodist and OU.

The Sooners will take the upcoming weekend off from competition. OU will return to competition on Sept. 30 with a trip to the Cowboy Jamboree in Stillwater.
