DALLAS - The Big 12 Men's Basketball All-Star team continued preparations for its European tour on Sunday, Aug. 6, as Coach Ricardo Patton of Colorado held a pair of two-hour practices at the Veranda Club.

The practices, held at 8 a.m. and 6 p.m., consisted of drills and scrimmage play as the 12-man squad worked to learn various offensive and defensive sets.

"Practice has been a learning experience," said Missouri's Brian Grawer. "It just takes time to learn about your teammates - where they like the ball, what their strengths are and so on. We need these practices to come together as a team, and it's been fun getting to know the other guys."

"Practices have been good and intense," added Nebraska's Cary Cochran. "It's been interesting playing with guys who are usually your opponents. And being on the floor with these guys is getting me excited about our games in Europe."

After the evening practice, the team left for a Texas-sized steak dinner on its last evening in the U.S. before departing for its 10-day trip on Monday.

Most of the players are dreading the nine-hour flight, but are really looking forward to the trip.

"It will be a really fun trip," Oklahoma's Nolan Johnson said. "It will be my first time out of the country and I'm just really honored to be on the All-Star team."

The team will hold one more practice, at 8 a.m. Monday, at the Veranda Club before leaving on an afternoon flight. Admission is free and open to the public.
