Football Festivities Begin August 9

NORMAN, Okla. - With the start of the 2000 football season right around the corner, the University of Oklahoma is giving fans two opportunities to interact with the coaches and players.

The 2000 football team makes its first official appearance with Media Day on Wednesday, Aug. 9, at Owen Field. Players and coaches will be available for interviews and autographs from 10 - 11:30 a.m. Fans are encouraged to use the parking lots east and south of the stadium and must enter through Gate 44 in the southeast corner of the stadium.

On Saturday, Aug. 19, OU will host its annual Fan Appreciation Day. Gates to Oklahoma Memorial Stadium and the Barry Switzer Center will open at 12:30 p.m. Sooner football coaches and players will be available for autographs and pictures from 12:30 to 1:30 p.m. A short program that includes prize give-aways and announcements begins at 4:30 p.m. and the team will wrap up two-a-days with a scrimmage at 5:30 p.m.

The Sooners open the season with UTEP on September 2. Kick-off is slated for 6:35 p.m. at Oklahoma Memorial Stadium.
