Football Team Stresses Team Drills

NORMAN, Okla. - As two-a-days start winding down, the Oklahoma football team spent Thursday afternoon working on team situations that emphasized reading the opponent. The Sooners' coaching staff mixed up the run and pass, forcing the players to work on making the read and Head Coach Bob Stoops was pleased with the progression.

"Our communication gets better every day and assignments seem to be getting better every day and that's encouraging," Stoops noted. "We're not throwing in a whole lot more. Everything we have has been in. We're just trying to get better at what we do and it seems to be happening."

After Friday's final day of double sessions, the Sooners will scrimmage inside Oklahoma Memorial Stadium on Saturday. The players and coaches will be available to sign autographs from 12:30 p.m. to 1:30 p.m. before capping off the day with a 5:30 scrimmage to tie up loose ends.

"We're just going to continue to try to polish our offense and defense," Stoops said. "We'll look at some kicking situations. As much as anything, we're going to put some players out there who haven't been out in front of a crowd or the stadium to feel what it's like, and simulate a game situation and let them go at it a little bit."
