NORMAN, Okla. - Iowa State's Jamaal Tinsley hit a clutch free throw with 1.4 seconds left to give the Big 12 Men's Basketball All-Stars a hard-fought 92-88 win over the Oberwart Gunners on Tuesday in Oberwart, Austria, to run the Stars' record to 4-0 on its European Tour. Oklahoma's Nolan Johnson was 4-for-6 from the field and finished with 10 points, four rebounds and three steals.
The Sooners' senior guard, who is OU's second-leading returning scorer from last season, has tallied 21 points over the past two contests for the All-Stars.
"I wasn't nervous," said Tinsley of his late free throw. "Pressure bursts pipes. I knew we needed the free throw, so I just stepped up and hit it."
Tinsley had a stellar game, scoring 17 points and adding six assists and six steals with just one turnover.
Terry Black of Baylor had a great game from the floor, hitting 6-of-8 field goal attempts for 13 points. Andre Williams of Oklahoma State was the big board man for the Stars, pulling down six rebounds and chipping in seven points.
Kansas' Luke Axtell pulled a groin in warm-ups and did not see action. Team physician Mike Brager said that while the injury is not serious, Axtell will miss the next game.
The All-Stars return to play on Wednesday, when they travel to Kapfenberg, Austria, to take on the Kapfenberg Bears at 7 p.m. local time.
