NORMAN, Okla. - Ten University of Oklahoma volleyball scholar-athletes were named to the 2000 Big 12 Conference Commissioner's Honor Roll, as released by the league offices late yesterday, for their outstanding academic performances during the spring semester. All ten recipients have been recoginized with the honor for the second-consecutive semester, while junior Allison Silveira headlined the group by achieving a perfect 4.0 grade point average in Meteorology. OU's total tied Colorado and Kansas State for the third-highest sum produced by a conference volleyball team.
The list recognizes all student-athletes (letterwinners and non-letterwinners) that have achieved a GPA of a 3.0 or higher during the previous semester. As a whole, the Big 12 set an all-time high of 2,262 student-athletes that were named to the honor roll, exceeding the previous high of 2,210 set in the fall of 1999.
