NORMAN, Okla. - University of Oklahoma women's soccer player Bridgette Smith was named to the Big 12 All-Tournament Team, the league announced. Smith, one of three seniors on the OU team this year, was the lone Sooner to make the all-tourney squad.

A native of Grapevine, Texas, Smith helped lead Oklahoma into the semifinals of the Big 12 Tournament. OU shut out Texas, 2-0, Wednesday in the opening round before losing to ninth-ranked Texas A&M, 1-0, Friday in the semifinals.

Smith was part of a Sooner defense that set OU season records in goals-against average (1.00) and shutouts (seven). She was a key component in the Sooners' first-ever winning season (10-9-1).

"I think this award is very well deserved," said OU Head Coach Randy Evans. "With this being Bridgette's first year playing defense, I think she may have been overlooked during the regular season. However, at the tournament, in front of all coaches, she proved how good of a player she is. She wasn't overlooked anymore."
