Oklahoma Head Coach Kelvin Sampson
On exhibition games:
"The things that I've learned from these kind of exhibition game over the years is you take it, digest it and you just move on. There are two positives that you can take from this game. Number one is that we won, and that shouldn't be underestimated. Number two, we got a lot of our new guys some experience."
On the new players:
"There are aspects of our game that definitely need improvement but we will get better in time. Daryan Selvy is an active player who is going to get better for us as the season goes on. Aaron McGhee came out gave us 10 solid minutes but wasn't consistent throughout the game. But again, he should improve greatly with time. Of the freshman, I was most pleased with Johnnie Gilbert. I thought he was our best post defender tonight."
On the California Southwest All-Stars:
"They are made up of first-team all-conference college players. Kris Johnson from UCLA played well. I like to think that Eric Martin is still a very good player. Those guys who are 23, 24 and 25 are better players than they were when they were 18. This team beat some very tough teams including Utah, Arizona State and Northern Arizona. So that is definitely a positive we can draw from."
OU Junior Daryan Selvy
"I think we can play better on defense. With this first game, I think the main thing is learning how to play as teammates. As the year goes on, we'll get more comfortable with each other and the system. If that happens, I don't see too many people beating us."
"I missed too many easy shots. One of the things I learned when I came to Oklahoma is that I'm not `the man' like I was in junior college and high school. I'm not the only All-American on this team."
California All-Stars Head Coach Pete Cassidy
On how Oklahoma compares to the other teams his team has faced (Arizona State, Utah and Northern Arizona):
"I feel they're the best so far. They're quicker, they rebound better and they're extremely well-coached."
