Oklahoma Football Players Named To All-America Team

DALLAS--University of Oklahoma quarterback Josh Heupel and linebacker Rocky Calmus have been named to the Football Writers Association of America All-America team. This is the first time that OU has recorded a first-team All-America honor since linebacker Joe Bowden in 1991.

The FWAA has announced an All-America team since the 1944 season. It is the second longest continuously published team in major-college football.

Heupel, who led the Sooners to victories over nationally ranked Texas, Kansas State and Nebraska in successive games in October, is the first Sooner quarterback to be named All-America since Jack Mildren in 1971.

Calmus, who is also a finalist for the Butkus Award, leads the Sooners in tackles with 100.
