Todays game against Indiana State was the Sooners eighth night home contest. Oklahoma is now 4-4 in home night games.

Starting quarterback Josh Heupel became only the second junior college signal caller to ever start for the Sooners. Garrick McGee was the first when he started every regular season game in 1994.

Michael Thornton, Josh Norman, Andre Woolfolk and Ryan Daniel all scored their first career touchdowns.

Placekicker Tim Duncan, who was perfect on seven extra-point attempts, also scored his first points as a Sooner.

The crowd of 74,119 was the largest for an OU home opener since 1988.

The Sooners 49-point win marked their largest margin of victory since 1992 when OU defeated Arkansas State 61-0 at Owen Field.

Four OU true freshmen saw action in the game against Indiana State: Antwone Savage, Michael Thompson, Eric Thunander and Jason White.

With tonights loss, Indiana State fell to 0-6 against Oklahoma schools. The Sycamores have been outscored in those contests, 279-31.

Josh Heupel broke two school records and tied a third in his career debut. Heupel threw for five touchdown passes (to five different receivers) and completed 31 passes on the evening. He also tied the school mark of 341 passing yards which is also held by current OU assistant coach Cale Gundy. Heupels 40 passing attempts were the second most in school history.

Thirteen different Sooners caught passes in the game.

The Sooners rolled up 507 total yards, their eighth-highest total in the decade of the 1990s.
