Oklahoma vs. Arkansas-Little Rock Postgame Notes

Oklahoma's 80-56 victory improved its record to 8-0, the Sooners' best start since the 1991-92 campaign when they began 10-0 under Head Coach Billy Tubbs. OU's current eight-game winning streak ties for the longest under Head Coach Kelvin Sampson (also in 1997-98 season). Oklahoma is one of two remaining unbeaten teams in the Big 12 Conference - Oklahoma State (6-0) is the other.
Sophomore guard J.R. Raymond scored 18 second-half points and led the Sooners with 22 points. He also registered five assists and a career-high seven steals. Raymond made 3-of-5 three-point attempts tonight and is now shooting .519 (27-for-52) from beyond the arc on the season.
Senior Eduardo Najera scored 14 points and grabbed a game-high nine rebounds before fouling out. The preseason All-American has led the Sooners in rebounding in seven of their eight games.
Junior guard Kelley Newton was 3-of-6 from beyond the arc tonight. All 11 of his field goals and 19 of his 23 field goal attempts this season have been of the three-point variety.
True freshman Hollis Price scored a career-high 15 points tonight, marking his third straight game in double figures. He also recorded a game-high six assists. Over the last four contests, the guard is averaging 11.0 points, 4.5 assists and 2.0 steals.
Oklahoma missed its first five free throw attempts tonight and finished the game 20-of-30 (.667). Entering the night, the Sooners were shooting .752 from the foul line.
The Sooners improved to 66-8 (.892) under Coach Sampson when scoring at least 80 points. OU is 52-2 (.963) under Sampson when scoring at least 80 points at home.
OU outboarded Arkansas-Little Rock by a 40-31 count. The Sooners have outrebounded seven of their eight opponents this season.
Sophomore walk-on Michael Cano scored his first career points tonight with a last-minute bucket.
Oklahoma breaks for final exams this week and doesn't play again until next Saturday when it hosts Georgia Southern at 7 p.m. The Sooners then host No. 1 ranked Cincinnati on Wednesday, Dec. 22.
