BOULDER, Colo. - The University of Oklahoma volleyball team lost 3-1 to Colorado Saturday night at the Coors Events Center in Boulder, Colo. The Buffaloes won the match with game scores of 15-6, 15-7, 9-15, 15-3 in front of 814 fans. Colorado improved its overall record to 13-8 and 7-5 in Big 12 action, while Oklahoma falls to 7-15 and 2-10.
OU ended the evening with three Sooners with double digit kills, led by sophomore outside hitter Danielle Bookout's 17 kills. Bookout also paced OU with 10 digs, producing the team's first double-double performance of the season. The Hereford, Texas native also contributed seven blocks and hit a match high .429. Senior Melissa Christman had 14 kills and five blocks and junior Cathy Cook added 12 kills and four blocks.
Sonja Nielsen and Kristin Engelking of Colorado had 20 and 17 kills, respectively. Shana Bowen added 11 kills to the team's total 78. Nielsen also led the match with 15 digs, followed by Elizabeth Gower's 10 digs.
As a team, Oklahoma produced 61 kills on 150 attempts and committed 27 errors for a hitting percentage of .227. Colorado landed 78 kills on 165 attempts with 28 errors for a clip of .303. CU also out hustled the Sooners earning 51 digs to OU's 47. However, Oklahoma blocked the Buffs, 13-6.
Oklahoma returns to the OU Field House on Wednesday, Nov. 3 when the Sooners host Big 12 foe Missouri in a 7 p.m. match.
