NORMAN, Okla. - The University of Oklahoma volleyball team was defeated by Texas Tech, 15-4, 15-0, 15-5, Saturday night at the OU Field House in Norman. The Sooners fell to 6-12 overall and 1-7 in Big 12 Conference play, while the Red Raiders improved to 12-8 and 2-6. It was the sixth-straight loss for OU, the longest losing skid since the Sooners were defeated in seven straight matches in 1996. Also, it was the first time OU has recorded no points in a game since 1996 when it lost 3-1 to Brigham Young.

Oklahoma could not muster any type of offense or defense in the entire match, as it posted a -.093 hitting percentage, registered 12 service receiving errors and nine service errors. The Sooners posted negative hitting percentages in game one (-.158) and game two (-.286). Also, Oklahoma did not register a block in the match.

Four OU players finished the match with a negative hitting clip, including junior Cathy Cook (-.364), who is currently ranked third in the nation in hitting percentage. Sophomore Chantae Weathers posted team highs in kills (5) and hitting efficiency (.167).

"Texas Tech pushed us around at will all night," OU Head Coach Miles Pabst said. "Our passing and serving killed us and we were intimidated by them. They were telling us they were going to beat us and they did."

The Red Raiders, who recorded a .375 hitting clip, were led by senior Lori Garber. The middle blocker registered match highs in kills (9), hitting percentage (.692) and service aces (4). Freshman Ann Romjue contributed five kills and a match-high six digs.

The Sooners continue their four-match homestand on Friday, Oct. 22, at 7 p.m. against Baylor.
