No. 14 Texas A&M Sweeps Oklahoma Volleyball

COLLEGE STATION, Texas - The 14th-ranked Texas A&M volleyball team swept the University of Oklahoma 15-7, 15-10, 15-5 in front of a crowd of 1,512 fans Saturday night inside G. Rollie White Coliseum in College Station, Texas. OU fell to 6-10 overall and 1-5 in Big 12 Conference action, while the Aggies improved to 13-3 and 4-2.

Texas A&M dominated from start to finish, out-hitting the Sooners .389 to .196. The Aggies hit over .400 in two of the three games. The Aggies finished the match with 54 kills to Oklahoma's 40 and hustled for 47 digs compared to OU's 35.

For the Sooners, Cathy Cook, who entered the week leading the NCAA in hitting efficiency, recorded a match-high 11 kills and hit .348 with four blocks.

Texas A&M was paced by Summer Strickland and Lauri Leahy who had registered 10 kills apiece. Strickland hit a whopping .588 and was the only player on the court with double figures in digs with 19.

Oklahoma ends its two-match Big 12 road swing in Lincoln, Neb., on Wednesday, Oct. 13 when the Sooners face 12th-ranked Nebraska at 7 p.m. at the Nebraska Coliseum. OU will host Texas Tech on Saturday, Oct. 16, at 7 p.m. inside the OU Field House.
