Brett McDanel joined Oklahoma Athletics in the fall of 2022 and serves as the lead fabricator.

In this role, he is responsible for all welding and finding creative solutions to a variety of problems.

Prior to his time with Oklahoma, he was a sculptor from December 2008 to July 2022. In that role, he built primarily figurative, found object sculptures, in addition to occasional outdoor steel structures and large-scale public sculptures. He was featured in a variety of news articles, did shows in multiple companies, and was nominated for an Emmy.

His family in Norman includes his wife, Sara, and their sons, Levi and Kaleb. Outside of work, he builds furniture, the occasional sculpture, and anything he can find to challenge himself. He enjoys spending time outdoors and with family, and travels often with his wife.
