Hunter Stieber enters his sixth season on the OU wrestling staff in the 2021-22 campaign. 

In Stieber’s first year at OU, the Sooners recorded a 10-3 mark after the holiday break to finish the season with an 11-6 overall record, including wins over three ranked teams. Oklahoma finished in second place at the 2017 Big 12 Championship and qualified eight wrestlers for the 2017 NCAA Championships in St. Louis.

The Sooners posted an 8-11 mark in Stieber’s second season and sent five wrestlers to the NCAA Championships.

Oklahoma went 10-6 in Stieber's third year, sending five wrestlers to the NCAA Championships.

OU qualified six student-athletes for the 2020 NCAA Championships after compiling a 5-7 record in the regular season. Stieber played a pivotal role in developing Justin Thomas and Dom Demas who earned NCAA qualifications. 

The Sooners won their first conference championship in 19 seasons during the 2021 campaign. Stieber assisted in the development of NCAA qualifiers Dom Demas and Justin Thomas.

Stieber joined the OU staff prior to the 2016-17 season. A Monroeville, Ohio, product, Stieber had a decorated collegiate career at Ohio State University. The role at Oklahoma marks the first coaching duties of his career.

A two-time All-American at 141 pounds and three-time NCAA qualifier, Stieber was the 2013 Big Ten Champion and entered the 2013 NCAA Championships as the tournament’s No. 1 seed. Stieber, who posted an impressive 36-1 record during his sophomore season, also earned All-Big 10 honors in 2013. He qualified for the 2015 NCAA Championships despite facing injury setbacks in his final two seasons as a Buckeye.
