Tanner George joined the Oklahoma women’s golf coaching staff on Aug. 9, 2023, and enters his fourth season with the Sooners in 2026-27.

Through his first three seasons in Norman, George has helped Oklahoma advance to three NCAA Regionals, win two team championships and record 23 top-five finishes.

During the 2026 campaign, the Sooners posted their best stroke-play finish at a conference championship in more than a decade with a runner-up finish at the SEC Championship and concluded the season with the program's highest national ranking in more than 10 years. Oklahoma also set a program-record season scoring average (285.44) in 2025 and earned SEC or Women's Golf Coaches Association academic recognition for every member of its roster in both 2025 and 2026.

Prior to Oklahoma, George spent 10 seasons as the head men’s and women’s golf coach at Sterling College, where he transformed both programs into perennial contenders. Under his leadership, Sterling established more than 40 program records and produced 30 All-Kansas Collegiate Athletic Conference (KCAC) Tournament Team selections. He coached 16 All-KCAC performers and nine Cleveland/Srixon All-America Scholars.

George's men's program recorded 17 top-two finishes and won seven tournament championships during his tenure. In 2022, the Warriors captured the KCAC Championship and advanced to the NAIA National Championship, earning George KCAC Coach of the Year honors.

A certified instructor through the Titleist Performance Institute (TPI), George also served as the KCAC Women's Golf Chair beginning in 2019.

In addition to his success in golf, George played a key role in Sterling's women's basketball program, helping the Warriors win three KCAC regular-season championships (2020-21, 2021-22 and 2022-23) and two conference tournament titles (2021 and 2022).

As a student-athlete at Sterling, George was a standout golfer. He earned NAIA Academic All-America honors in 2014 and was named a GCAA Cleveland/Srixon Academic All-American in 2013. A three-time KCAC Academic All-Conference selection, he also earned All-KCAC honors twice as a player in 2012-13 and 2013-14.
