Jo Beth Guerra, MS, RD, joined Oklahoma Athletics in August 2022 and serves as an Athletics Dietitian for baseball, men’s gymnastics and soccer.
In this role, she oversees every aspect of fueling for practice and competition – including individual counseling, team education, cooking demos, organizing travels meals while on the road, and optimizing recovery through nutrition.
Additionally, Guerra conducts body composition testing for numerous training cycles in collaboration with Strength and Conditioning staff to ensure Oklahoma athletes respond to training and stay on track with their goals.
Prior to Oklahoma, Guerra served as a Sports Nutrition Fellow for the University of Arkansas from September of 2021 to July 2022. She was the dietitian for women’s gymnastics and assisted with football. Guerra also conducted body composition testing and analysis of results, performed individual nutrition counseling, team educations, menu planning, and hydration testing.
Prior to her time with Arkansas, Guerra served as the team dietitian for the Chicago Cubs minor league team in Myrtle Beach, South Carolina from April 2021 to September 2021. Guerra focused on weight maintenance during the season and hydration testing to ensure the athletes stayed hydrated in the warm climate. She designed a holistic fueling station to ensure athletes had access to real, nutritious foods along with menu planning and team education.
Prior to her time with the Cubs, Guerra served as the fueling station manager at Texas Christian University from February 2019 to June 2020. She managed ordering, inventory and everything under the fueling and recovery umbrella.
Guerra earned a Bachelor of Science in nutrition and dietetics from Ouachita Baptist University and earned a Master of Science in nutrition and human performance from Logan University.
Outside of work, Guerra enjoys spending time with friends and family, eating at new restaurants, getting outside and staying active with her dog, Mo.
