Charmaine Darden is entering her first season as the Men’s and Women’s Associate Head Cross-Country/ Assistant Track and Field Coach at the University of Oklahoma.

Prior to arriving at OU, Darden was the Head Men's and Women's Cross Country/ Assistant Track and Field Coach at Southern University. While at Southern (2014-2019), Darden coached student athletes to break 5 university records. Coached student athletes to place top 8 in the South Western Athletic Conference Championship meets over 70 times. Over 13 student-athletes made the SWAC All-Academic Team.

Prior to arriving at Southern University, Darden was the Men’s and Women’s Head Cross-Country and Track and Field coach at Neumann University (2012-2014) where the cross-country team had regional success. Both women and mens teams had qualifiers compete in the ECAC Indoor and Outdoor Championships, and had national success.

Before coming to Neumann, Darden was an Assistant Track and Field coach at West Chester University of Pennsylvania (2010-2012) where she coached sprint and middle distance events. While at West Chester, Darden guided the Golden Rams to breaking eight school records, and has placed a total of 33 track athletes on the West Chester University’s All-Time Top 10 Performance List. And, coached athletes to become conference champions as well.

Before joining the West Chester’s Golden Rams coaching staff, Darden was an Assistant Track and Field coach at Norristown Area High School (2008-2010) where she coached the distance events. While at Norristown, Darden tutored a third place finish at the Pennsylvania State Championship in the boys 800m and, the boys 4 x 800m relay finished their season 6th in the nation.

Darden was also the Head Cross-Country and Assistant Summer Track coach of the Ambler Track Club (AOC 2007-2009) during that time as well. At AOC, Darden’s athletes had District, Regional and National success.

COACHING EDUCATION:
Darden has received two USA Track and Field (USATF) Level II certifications in Endurance and Sprints, Hurdles, and Relays. Darden is also a USATF certified coach. In 2014, Darden became a USTFCCCA certified Jump and Strength and Conditioning coach.

EDUCATION:
Bachelor’s degree in Sports Management- Hampton University class of 2007.
Masters degree in Public Administration, with a graduate certification in Sport Management and Athletics from West Chester University of Pennsylvania in 2012.
