John W Baker joined Oklahoma Athletics in the fall of 2019 and serves as the Director of Creative Content.
In this role, he assists in the oversight of photography for football, assists in creation and management of graphics, motion graphics and print content, oversees recruiting content and works with the football coaches and student athletes in creative and digital media spaces.
Prior to Oklahoma, he served as the Graphic Design Coordinator for Nebraska Athletics from August 2016 to August 2019. In that role, he acted as the lead designer for football social media and recruiting, assisted in photography and social media strategy. He also assisted with content creation and social media management for other Nebraska sports, in addition to website management, gameday & practice press conferences.
Prior to his role with Nebraska Athletics, he served as an Assistant Men’s Soccer Coach and Recruiting Assistant at York University from August 2013 to August 2016. In that role, he helped to lead the team to back-to-back conference tournament appearances and best their overall record in over 10 years.
During his time with York University, he also served as an Admissions Counselor from June 2013 to August 2015. In that role, he assisted in recruiting one of the largest freshman class for York. He also worked with all campus areas to see prospective students through the recruitment process and went on recruitment trips to find prospective students.
He earned his Bachelor of Arts in business communication with a minor in theatre from York University and earned his Master of Arts in business with a specialization in intercollegiate athletics administration (MAIAA) from the University of Nebraska - Lincoln.
While at York, he played soccer, was on the dean’s list each semester, was named a MCAC men’s soccer scholar athlete three times and was named a Daktronics NAIA men’s scholar athlete twice. While at Nebraska, he was a part of the NCAA 2017 Emerging Leaders Seminar.
His family in Norman includes his wife, Erin, daughter, Alaia, son John, and their dog, Chief.
