In addition to Oklahoma's 33 NCAA Tournament appearances, the Sooners have also reached the National Invitation Tournament on eight occasions. Oklahoma reached the finals of the 1991 NIT along with the semifinals of the 1982 edition.

Oklahoma has also participated in the NIT Season Tip-Off on four occasions, winning its most recent appearance in 2008 at Madison Square Garden.
