The Last Time Out, Part 1
Patience is a virtue and the Sooner track and field athletes who went to the UN Twilight Invitational finally got their wait for good weather rewarded. The end result was victories by six Sooners and season bests for 20 others.
Winners for OU included Michael McNamara with a 17-2 in the pole vault; Amanda Warehime with a 45-10 in the shot put; Veronica Clayborne with a 36-1.25 in the triple jump; Joey McNair with a 3:58.30 in the 1500; Brontez Steele with a 50.18 in the 400; and Kelli O'Rourke with a 2:20.20 in the 800.
The Sooner men went 1-2-3 in the 1500 with Brandon Kissack finishing second and Jimmy Buchanan coming in third. OU was 1-2 in the women's shot put with Megan Crystal finishing second. OU also got a second and third in the men's high jump from Kyle Blair and Kris Glenn.
Crystal's fourth-place distance in the discus, 142-10, marked a career best for the second time in three competitions.

The Last Time Out, Part 2
A total of 23 student-athletes as well as coaches and support staff traveled to Des Moines, Iowa, for the 93rd annual Drake Relays. Redshirt freshman Darren Hutchins recorded a collegiate career best of 32:40.48 in the men's invitational 10,000-meter run to open OU's competition in the meet. Hutchins' time was good for 23rd place in the final and his time ranks ninth all-time in Sooner history.
Three other Sooners competed on Thursday. Junior Robin Hanna cleared 15-3 in the university men's pole vault to finish 18th and freshman Austin Landreth failed to clear the opening height.
